Dominic-Afsheen Akhavan-Moossavi

Dominic-Afsheen Akhavan-Moossavi is a London-based designer and educator, currently serving as Lead Lecturer for MA Menswear and Associate Lecturer in Fashion & Textiles Central Saint Martins. A graduate of Central Saint Martins himself, Dominic brings a distinctive, energetic voice to contemporary menswear, blending bold aesthetics with thoughtful commentary on masculinity, emotion, and identity.

With a practice that champions creativity, courage, and critical thinking, Dominic’s teaching philosophy is rooted in empowering students to develop their own unique perspectives. His work encourages fearless exploration, underpinned by a deep respect for craft, innovation, and process. As an educator, he is committed to creating an environment where students are supported to take risks, challenge conventions, and cultivate personal authenticity in their work. Dominic’s pedagogy is centres around divergent thinking and threshold concepts, often pushing the creative process into realms students had not considered, encouraging students to look at their ideas from different perspectives but all whilst making sure they are aware of the landscape they are creating work for.

Dominic's career spans across design, factory and production management, education and consultancy. His professional journey began in the outreach departments, quickly expanding to include associate lecturing, leading short courses, and international teaching engagements. An Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Dominic continues to inspire students globally, with regular workshops and mentorship programs.

Alongside his academic leadership, Dominic actively mentors the next generation of emerging designers/talent, providing guidance through the early stages of their careers and connecting them with key industry figures and manufacturers, offering guidance that bridges creativity with industry insight.. His commitment to collaboration and community-building is at the heart of his approach, working across disciplines with artists, designers, and performers.

Dominic’s commitment for education and creative practice has also seen him appear in the BBC Four documentary Bauhaus Rules with Vic Reeves, highlighting the ongoing relevance of art school education a century after the Bauhaus movement.
