Our Strategy
The DCDI and Westminster School of Arts Employability Strategy 2024-2029 is a forward-thinking framework that aligns seamlessly with the UK government’s Creative Industries Sector Vision. Rooted in skills development, industry engagement, and entrepreneurial growth, our strategy is dedicated to equipping Westminster School of Arts graduates with a unique blend of academic knowledge, creative talent and commercial acumen.
We fully recognise that the creative industry is a highly competitive market, so we continually enhance our partnerships through a strong network of industry collaborations, immersive work-based learning, mentorship and targeted employability programmes. By immersing students in real-world professional environments – including internships, collaborative projects, hackathons, and industry placements our students gain practical insights into industry standards and expectations while developing key commercial skills such as project management, client communication, soft skills and strategic thinking. These experiences also nurture adaptability and a professional mindset essential for success in today’s dynamic and ever-changing creative industries.
Work-Ready Graduates
As a result, our graduates emerge with dynamic, well-rounded CVs and portfolios that showcase their creative expertise, technical craftsmanship, and proven ability to thrive in professional environments. These documents reflect their unique artistic vision and skills and demonstrate their readiness to tackle real-world challenges, collaborate effectively, and make meaningful contributions to their chosen industries. This comprehensive preparation ensures they stand out as confident, capable, and innovative professionals.
Support Beyond University
Beyond their time at university, the Westminster School of Arts remains deeply invested in their long-term success, offering career support for up to three years post-graduation. This includes personalised career guidance, job placement assistance, funding and networking opportunities. Furthermore, we provide skill-enhancing workshops designed to help graduates confidently navigate the evolving professional landscape and build fulfilling, sustainable careers.
By providing this holistic preparation and ongoing support, we ensure that our graduates are not just industry-ready but industry-leading – prepared to innovate, adapt, and excel in their chosen fields.
